Default Mahindra diesel trucks

Just came across this on my fishing/hunting forum.
These trucks are due for sale in U.S by this Spring.

http://www.mahindrana.com/

Anyone have first hand experience with this truck?

funny looking things aren't they. I don't want to sound bad but it will take a lot for me the trust or invest in the "quality" of and indian made vehicle. I'm also curious as to hom much they will be selling for. Also i didn't seem to find the specs on the engine only that it had ( 30 MILES PER GALLON HIGHWAY). yeah depends on who's driving probably. I think they need to realise that people like myself who are interested about diesels need stats. We need to know what and how things work. I need to know how many ft/lbs and i need to know hp and at what rpm and what the gear ratios are and so on and so forth. All the anal stuff that seems to be meaningless to the average buyer but to a diesel driver like many of us are. we need STATS>>>> i guess time will tell.

I always laugh when i meet someone who drives a big v8 gas truck or something and the topic of mileage comes up. I know for you US guys its less confusing because your vehicles are already in US mpg, however manny times i get into a conversation with someone who tells me how many miles per gallon they get on a metric vehicle. And curious as i am i ask them if that is imperial or standard (us) and they say "i don't know" well how did you figure it out? " i don't know" . so how do you know your getting 20 mpg. " i don't know" so how many litres per 100 kms are you getting " I DON"T KNOW" very frustrating. any way theres my rant for
the day. So if your out there mister i get such and such mpg but can't explain how you figured it out....... For SHAME

I will add one thought tho. If enough of these things sell then perhaps it will encourage all the reatarded domestics and japs to re-evaluate the kyboshing of all the light duty diesels they had promissed us. even the honda accord diesel is not out. BAstards. How dare they give us hope and anticipation with all these great plans for half tone diesels and rip them away. (i'm not bitter) anyhoo just a thought.

And I thought you were neutral.

As far as I am concerned, you have perfectly nailed it when mentioning your distrust of a vehicle coming out of India. Whilst I have some very talented and highly educated doctors from India that treat me, a VEHICLE??? When we've all seen (on various television programs) their everyday transportation running and in operation on their streets??? Creak groan, choke smoke, all at a blistering 50kph??

The Koreans seem to have proved themselves, but I venture it will take a LOT longer for India to do the same, given what we've already seen so far.

I guess time will tell. I have no issues with the vehicles coming from india. Great for them. They can now take our desk jobs and our manufacturing jobs cause our domestic companies don't seem to think that its worth it. However it did take the Korean companies a while to bring their products up to snuff and as far as I'm concerned there are still several that don't make the cut. ( many of wich carry domestic brand names ... cough cough.) The new genesis is a great example. wow what a car. But for how long. I suspect that they will last though. My friend has an Accent with 504 000 kms on the clock and all they have done is the timing belt. I think they got lucky. ( but maybe not that lucky cause they have to drive an accent ... A lot) haha

Good to see that there will be light duty diesels available though. Hey did anyone here or see the new vw truck/ suv thing that they are selling in south america. That thing looks sweet and with a nice tdi engine to boot. Another nice diesel that we will never see.

funny side note. wikipedia says that the engine has 120 hp and the mahindra site says 140hp Hmmmmm

If your refering to the 30 mpg claim. it's very likely that they will make it because of what other brands are capable of. But i will be a skeptic anyway just for fun. I so wish we could get those beautiful d4d hiluxs and trick em out iceland style. that would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeet! All of my reletives in France drive diesels and they get pissed off with 7L per 100k. Some of the little cars get as low as 4L per 100k. Bastards!!! The new vw Polo is said to get 80 freakin miles per gallon. (imperial) but still. And for all of you guys that watch top gear a lot. if youve seen the episode with the mileage competition where Clarkson gets an average of over 50 mpg from a tricked out Jag. and he was flying down the highway.
