I was surprised to see Toyota don't offer the TD V8 in some countries at all (like South Africa, where you can only get a petrol engine). Very strange.
and here you can't even have whole 70 series at all...

I just want one of those 1vd-ftv. The power that thing would put up against the 1kz-te I have in there now would be ridiculous. Great job, very jealous!

One of those motors I bet would be great in a Tundra.

I can't find the source but somewhere I read they were going to go in the tundra in the future, but even heard of a 7.0l d4d? With toyota not getting with the program though, I fear it wont happen for quite a few more years.

Maybe in the tundra to finally compete within the heavy duty diesels.

Hi all,

Now that I've been driving the repowered 'Cruiser for a few months, I've updated the conversion pages I set up. I've got almost everything sorted now, with the exception of some gauges. I've also decided to upgrade the radiator to keep it cool.

Anyone else out there looking at a conversion yet?

I am some day, but to be honest - as mechanic, the body raising bit scare's the hell outa me. If was to do such a swap, as i have done in the past, I would need to locate the intercooler infront of the rad.
Do you think the motor would still fit under the standard bonet?

You wouldn't be able to do it just by moving the intercooler, because the intake pipe and sump fume recirc hose would also be too high. One option I did consider was modifying the bonnet by fitting a pair of modified 'bulges' from BA Falcon XR8 bonnets. One wouldn't be wide enough, so you'd need two of them, cut square on the inside edges and joined together. There are aftermarket fibreglass versions available for about $150ea, or get some whole bonnets from the wreckers and weld it all together if you'd prefer metal.

nice job!! I'm considering doing it to my 96 TD 80 series. Was considering the engine out of the 200 series though.
